OUTCAST
In the districts of Kampong Chhnang, in the province of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, live extremely impoverished elderly people marginalized by society, who are still suffering from the effects of the Pol Pot regime on their lives.
The lingering effects of this suffering reside like ghosts within forgotten homes. Many of these elderly individuals have lost parts of their families, suffer from illness, poverty, and are unable to think clearly for themselves. It's a cycle of poverty that has been passed down from generation to generation.
This is where Maria comes in. She is a Cambodian woman who has initiated the New Day New Life project with the aim of restoring and supporting a sense of dignity, respect, and love, thus improving the quality of life for these elderly individuals.
